Mayors’ coalition implements gift card drive
CEDAR CREEK LAKE—Mayors around the Cedar Creek Lake area are urging those who wish to donate to the Kerr County flood victims to donate gift cards.
Mabank Mayor Randy Teague stated, “After a number of conversations, speaking with local leaders, as well as the actual "boots on the ground" folks in Kerr County and the surrounding areas that have been devastated with flash flooding, the Cedar Creek Lake Area Mayors' Coalition is implementing a gift card drive.” Teague clarified that the Texas Hill Country is currently inundated with people, traffic and nonperishable items which makes this is a meaningful and real way to put true necessities directly into their hands.
Teague says that the gift cards will represent meals, general health needs, groceries, pet food, pet supplies and building materials for citizens and first responders in the Hill Country.
Mayors ask that all gift cards donated are of $25 value which allows them to be distributed precisely where the needs are. If you want to donate more, simply buy multiple $25 cards.
Kerrville has the following retail locations available for flood victims: Walmart, Lowes, Dollar General, Tractor Supply Company, Whataburger, McDonalds, Chili's, Dairy Queen, Taco Casa, Sonic, Chicken Express, Golden Chick, Church's Chicken, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Burger King, Taco Bell, Domino's, Subway and Starbucks. Additionally, HEB and pre-loaded Visa / Mastercard gift cards are also immediate needs for them.
“Gift cards may be dropped off at any of the city halls on Cedar Creek Lake as we all work together to make a difference,” Teague stated.
The gift card donations will be picked up Monday, July 21 and delivery arranged so we can put them directly in the hands of the Hill Country area first responders.
