GUN BARREL CITY–The Gun Barrel City Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the early morning hours Dec. 15 in the 400 block of Pleasureland Road.
According to reports on the department’s social media, the house was fully engulfed with three residents trapped inside when firefighters arrived. Fire suppression was immediately begun, assisted by Mabank, Tool and Seven Points Fire Departments along with Payne Springs Fire Rescue.
As soon as the fire was under control, search and rescue efforts began, with the three residents of the home discovered in a front bedroom. The victims were taken to the treatment area where firefighters provided immediate care along with UT Health EMS and Careflite Ambulance personnel. Two residents were transported to area hospitals, and one was flown to Parkland Health Burn Center in Dallas. All three family members, two adults and a child, succumbed to their injuries.
Gun Barrel City Fire Chief Joseph Lindaman said, “I ask the community to pray for the victims, their families, and the first responders that were deeply touched by this tragedy. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to all of the agencies that responded to our call for assistance.”
The fire is under investigation by the Henderson County Fire Marshal Office and Gun Barrel City Fire Marshal Office. There were no injuries to any firefighters.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to aid the family with final expenses. https://www.gofundme.com/.../jonathan-alexis-and-jackson...
