CEDAR CREEK LAKE‑First responders use National Night Out to explain their daily work, introduce residents to emergency equipment, and build common ground around neighborhood safety. In Texas National Night Out is the first Tuesday of Oct.
On Oct. 6 Gun Barrel City marked the occasion with free games, hot dogs, and snow cones. Police and firefighters came together with residents for an evening of activities and conversation. Children saw fire trucks, police vehicles and emergency response vehicles in a relaxed setting as crews demonstrated lights, sirens, and horns.
The City of Tool celebrated National Night Out at The Eight at Tool Park with pizza. A coloring contest awarded a $100 Walmart gift card for first place, a $50 Walmart gift card for second place and a box of Lego bricks for third place. City crews also displayed equipment used to help keep neighborhoods safe, including a new fire truck from the Tool/Henderson County ESD No. 4.
National Night Out brings first responders and residents together in an informal setting. Community members can learn more about the work of police officers and firefighters while getting to know the people who respond during emergencies.
