The Silver Jacket Breakfast at Kemp ISD is to honor Kemp ISD’s senior citizens. Gertrude Freeman (center, sitting) is one of the oldest seniors to come to the breakfast Aug. 8. Freeman will be 94 in October. With Freeman are Kamila Garcia (from left, standing), Julianna Tejeda-Blaser and Greenleigh Helton.

Danny Andrews (left) and wife Ruth are welcomed to the Silver Jacket Breakfast by Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Accountability Kim McDowell-Stewart. Andrews was McDowell-Stewart’s bus driver when she attended Kemp High School. McDowell-Stewart said, “It is an honor having our senior citizens come to the Silver Jacket Breakfast. Our senior citizens are the foundation of Kemp.” Seniors were given prizes from a raffle and each one received an all-season pass to all sports events.
