The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released district and school accountability ratings on Aug. 14. The reason for school accountability, according to TEA’s website tea.texas.gov is to, “examine student achievement, school progress, and whether districts and campuses are closing achievement gaps among various student groups.”
Around the Cedar Creek Lake Area there are six independent school districts, Eustace, Kerens, Kemp, Mabank, Malakoff, and Trinidad. Each district has its own accountability rating from TEA and each school in a district has its own accountability rating. According to the TEA website, “The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates, college, career, and military readiness outcomes.”
To see the complete detailed report for each school district visit tea.texas.gov. Here we have provided a brief overview of each district. According to TEA, “A, B, C, D, or F are assigned for overall performance and for performance in each domain (category) to districts and campuses (including those evaluated under alternative education accountability [AEA]) that meet the performance target for the letter grade.”
Eustace ISD, Kerens ISD, Mabank ISD, Malakoff ISD and Trinidad ISD all received a “B” rating with Kemp ISD receiving a “D” rating. For a complete description of each district’s rating, explanation of domains and individual school ratings go to txschools.gov.
