Three vehicle accident sends seven to hospitals

Two pick-up trucks sustain heavy damages as a result of a three-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon. The white Ford (left) had a trapped driver who was life-flighted to a Tyler hospital. East Main Street was closed down for a least an hour to allow emergency personnel to work.

GUN BARREL CITY–Gun Barrel City Fire and Police Departments responded to a serious accident with entrapment Aug. 4 according to a social media post by the department.
The accident, which occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 300 block of East Main Street in the city, involved two pick-up trucks and a third vehicle. According to reports, the driver of a white Ford pick-up was trapped due to the force of the impact and had to be extracted using Hurst Jaws of Life® Rescue Tools. That driver was flown by UT Health Air I to UT Health in Tyler.
Six other patients were transported by UT Health EMS ambulances to area hospitals. East Main was closed down for approximately one hour while emergency personnel worked the scene.
