CEDAR CREEK LAKE—A winter weather advisory Jan. 30 caused early release for area schools and school closings for the following days. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth (NWS) advised on Tuesday that road conditions would only get worse as precipitation froze on the roadways.
Kaufman County closed county offices and canceled Commissioners’ Court and many area businesses posted their closings on social media. Reports of accidents started coming in and law enforcement agencies posted advisories, including asking drivers to slow down and give way to emergency vehicles and other highway construction and maintenance vehicles.
