Barbara Ann Ford lovingly known as Ann or Nanny, passed away at the age of 79 July 25, 2024, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home in Lumberton.
Born Aug. 12, 1944, she volunteered at DISD for at least one decade, then went on to serve another two decades at Walmart before retiring. Throughout the years in between, she dedicated her time to Toys for Tots in Gun Barrel City.
Barbara was a beacon of kindness and generosity, always ready to support and uplift those around her. Her warmth was evident through her thoughtful gestures, such as sending cards for every possible occasion and her active involvement in local school functions.
An avid reader and fan of game shows, Barbara also cherished the simple pleasures of family gatherings and relaxing on her patio.
She loved Jesus and was a devoted member of Faith at Work Ministries, where she found a strong community of faith and service, that continued even after relocating to Southeast Texas.
Her life was a testament to her loving nature and her commitment to her family and friends. She never met a stranger.
Barbara was preceded in death by husband James Ford and parents HD and Faye Allison.
She is survived by sons Jerry Ford, David Ford and Nolan Ford and wife Terri, daughter Debra Brooks and husband Richard, grandchildren Jennifer, Little Jerry, Christopher, Kristina, Varonda, David, Joshua, Ashley, Kelly, Michael, Louis, Ginny, Brittany, Tiffany, James and Dustin, 47 great-grandkids and five great-great-grandkids and sisters Glenda, June, Jane, Kay, Sherry and Donna.
Funeral services were held July 31, 2024 followed by a graveside service at King Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the Cancer Society. Barbara sent monthly donations to both associations in hopes of making a difference.
