Thomas Taaffe
Thomas Taaffe, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend was called home to heaven Aug. 3, 2024.
He was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Trinidad to Robert and Ruby Taaffe.
Thomas served in the Marines and went on to earn a masters degree in engineering from Texas Tech University, studied in the PhD program and later graduated from the TCU Ranch management program.
In 1968 he began his 39 year career teaching at Tarrant County junior college.
He met and married Marleney, and together they started Taaffe Cattle with the purchase of three heifers from the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
Spending time with Thomas was always a combination of hard work and entertainment. He was ready with a story from his life in Trinidad or adventures with friends and family. He spent his days happily mending fence, building something from a cedar tree he had cut or tending to his cattle. He would say, "there's nothing prettier than a white face calf.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard Taaffe and Dee Taaffe and sisters Jesse Nel Taaffe Reinburg and Frances Taaffe Rittmann.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, son Kearney Taaffe, grandson Kearney Taaffe Jr and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Aug. 9, 2024 at Trinidad Methodist Church with Bro. Derek Rogers officiating. Private burial was held in Mankin Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to Trinidad Taaffe Memorial Park LLC, PO Box 176, Trinidad, TX 75163 in memory of Thomas, and to honor his parents with the future Robert and Ruby Taaffe memorial park.
