Cotton was born June 1, 1935, on a dairy farm in Booker. From a young age, Cotton began working on his parents’ farm which began his lifelong love of gardening and plants.

He worked in management for over forty years before retiring in 1995. He then went to work for the water company in Wylie and retired again five years later in 2000.
After retirement, Cotton and Sue moved from Dallas to their lake house on Cedar Creek Lake where they had already enjoyed several decades of memorable time together with their friends and family.
Cotton enjoyed being the “Mayor” of Pin Oak Dr., mowing lawns, helping his neighbors, spending time with family, and game nights with their neighbors.
Cotton was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, and a member of Faith Community Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and held various other positions in the church throughout the years.
Cotton was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Victoria Meyer and son Dennis Andrew Meyer.
