The volunteers of Payne Springs Fire Rescue (PSFR) were alerted to a boat dock fire in Carolynn Estates during the morning hours of Aug. 16. Units arrived to find a boat dock and boat with heavy fire involvement. A large tree branch had come down on the power line to the house which resulted in a short that heated up the breaker box inside the house and appears to have been the cause of this fire. While crews were fighting the fire another member was doing a thorough search of the structure with no hazards found. Prior to clearing the scene one firefighter noticed that the neighbors power line was melting and smoking from some damage from the tree branch and the power company was notified to return to the scene. PSFR Engine 1 remained on scene until TVEC returned to handle that issue. PSFR was assisted by Gun Barrel City Fire Department, Log Cabin Fire Department and Caney City Fire Department.
