Kenneth Royce Penland
Kenneth Royce Penland, 83, of Mabank, passed away peacefully at his home Oct. 16, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Karen Jane Penland for 57 wonderful years.
Born in Altus, Okla., Kenneth was the son of the late Richard Franklin Penland and Vera Virginia Crossman Penland.
At the age of 12, his family moved to Dallas, where he would spend much of his life.
Kenneth dedicated 30 years of service as a proud member of the Local Teamsters 745 with Consolidated Freightways, retiring in 1999.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was also a faithful member of Grace Community Church until becoming homebound.
After retirement, Kenneth enjoyed traveling the country by RV, but he always cherished time spent with family and friends.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of local sports teams, proudly cheering for the Cowboys, Rangers, Stars and Mavericks and he loved attending his grandchildren's games.
Kenneth's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his wife, children Tammy Denham, Daren Sherrell and wife Heather, Kim Marshall and husband Rodney and Kenny Penland and wife Angela, grandchildren Cameron Wood, James Refroe, Haley Chaparro, Ashley Marshall, Camron Marshall, Kendall Penland, Kaden Penland and Brayden Sherrell and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 21, 2024, at Grace Community Church in Mabank. Interment followed at New Harmony Cemetery in Ben Wheeler.
