Police apprehend burglary suspect

GUN BARREL CITY—After the Gun Barrel City Police Department received multiple calls about a white male wearing a hoodie with an emblem on the back breaking into vehicles and taking property in the Arbalado, Willow Wood and Mantle Manors neighborhoods the department announced on social media he has been apprehended. 
Officers announced that, “after reviewing video footage, officers recognized the individual and set out to locate him.” According to the report, Investigator Ruiz made contact with the suspect Nov. 25, and he fled on foot. 
After a foot chase, the suspect returned to a residence he was known to frequent and got into an altercation with a male subject who lives there. He was apprehended by Investigator Ruiz and Chief Stephens. The suspect, River Mitchell, was charged with evading, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and multiple burglaries of vehicles.
“Thank you to all of our citizens who came together and were able to provide good information and video footage, and we are proud of the great job that multiple officers did in piecing together this series of events,” stated the department via social media.
