Lillian "Lil" Hipp
Funeral services for Lillian "Lil" Hipp, 88, of the Phalba Community, were held March 10, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Brent Williams officiating. Interment followed at Haven of Memories Memorial Park.
Lil passed away March 5, 2025 in Athens. She was born February 28, 1937 in Pavo, Ga., to Noah Etheridge and Mabel Ethel Fretwell Mims.
Lil grew up in Florida where she met and married Bill Hipp, a US Marine stationed in Miami. Upon leaving the military, they settled in Dallas. The family moved to the Phalba area in 1971. She spent many years working for Eubank Funeral Home and the Eubank Hardware and Furniture Store.
Her family was her priority in life. Lil was an extremely devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed travelling and collecting many special "treasures."
Lil was an exceptionally strong woman with a keen intelligence and resourcefulness. She attended Elm Grove Church.
Lil was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, son Billy Hipp Jr., parents, six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Rhonda and Tom Manning, Cindy and Ronnie Burton and Ginger and Scott Hines, seven grandchildren and their spouses Lauren and Ryan Hall, Whitney Henry, Nancy and Dustin Clark, Jonathan and Haley Burton, Cody and Leigh Hines, Hilary and Colby Ivie and Valerie and Katlin Horwood, sixteen great-grandchildren, soon to be seventeen and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Cody Hines, Jonathan Burton, Dustin Clark, Ryan Hall, Colby Ivie, Katlin Horwood and Gerald Cottrell, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons Barrett Hall, Andrew Hall, Grady Clark, Brady Henry, Noah Burton, Callen Clark, Caleb Henry and Jay Cooper Hines.
The family would like to thank Arabella Memory Care of Athens for their kindness and care over the past few months.
