With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ricky Warren Truitt, who left this world March 14, 2025, in Dallas just shy of his 65th birthday.
Rick was a beloved son, father, grandfather and friend whose warmth, humor and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rick was born April 12, 1960, in Canadian, Okla., to Jim and Donna Truitt. He lived a life full of love, resilience and unwavering strength. He was one of the toughest and strongest people you could ever meet.
More than anything, he was a devoted father who always put his children first. Rick never missed a single game or event, cheering from the sidelines with unwavering support. He was more than a spectator—he was a coach, mentor and role model. His love for sports was only matched by the love he had for his family.
He was well known around the lake for owning Hootin Holler in Gun Barrel City. His presence in the community was unforgettable and his larger-than-life personality made a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.
Rick is survived by his mother, sister Cindy Salley and children Josh Truitt, Brandon Truitt, Crystal Theriault and Chelsea Truitt and his four cherished grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the joy of knowing him.
Though his time with us was far too short, his memory and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral services were held March 25, 2025 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
In keeping with his love for flowers, floral arrangements and plants are welcome and appreciated.
