Gary Stephen Barclay, 66, of Gun Barrel City, passed away at his home May 31, 2025 following a battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 5, 1958 in Carthage to Milton Wayne Barclay and Marjorie Overton-Barclay. 
Growing up, Gary lived in Seagoville where he attended Seagoville High School and graduated in 1977. 
In 1994, Gary began his respected career as a Licensed Real Estate Home Inspector, which he excelled at. In 2008 he relocated to Gun Barrel City. 
After meeting cherished wife, Lisa Schmidt, in 2004, they were married Oct. 20, 2018 in Destin, Fla. 
Gary loved to travel with his wife and family any chance they could get. He was an avid fisherman and loved being on the lake. In his spare time, Gary also enjoyed hunting and was an excellent marksman. 
Gary was preceded in death by his parents. 
He is survived by his wife, son Casey Steven Barclay and wife Summer (Forney), daughter Carey Rae Barclay Galofaro and husband Chris (Crandall), grandchildren Levi Casey Barclay, Landen Cole and Aiden Parker Barclay Galofaro, Aunt Brenda Bowen (Mabank), Uncles Jerry Overton (Ravenna), and Wayman Overton (Ravenna), cousins Glen Bowen and wife Shanna (Kemp), Janet Jumper (Austin), Jimmy Overton (Ravenna) and Johnny Overton (Frisco). 
Above all else, Gary was a devoted family man. Family was his legacy. He treasured the time he spent with his precious children and grandchildren. 
A true light to the world, his presence will be missed deeply by all. 
A Celebration of Life to honor Gary’s memory will be held July 5, 2025 at the home residence of Gary and Lisa, open to family and friends. The Celebration of Life will be officiated by Larry Reneau.
