James “PeeWee” Lewis McKinney
James “PeeWee” Lewis McKinney, 91, of Tool passed away Aug. 20, 2022. PeeWee was born April 7, 1931 to parents James Edward McKinney and Freddie Mae Gay.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Jerene Estes April 4, 1953 in Malakoff. Their journey began soon after and had two daughters, Sherrie and Carla.
James was a caring and doting husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
“Pee-Wee” was an adventurous and skilled man. He used his talent to restore tractors and assist his neighbors in fixing their cars and tractors. James enjoyed taking part in the Mabank Tractor Club. He worked 42 years as a salesman in truck and trailer parts in Irving.
James was loved by all of his customers. They referred to him as a “jack of all trades, excluding computers.”
Baptist by faith, he attended the First Baptist Church, located in Tool. “Pee-Wee” will be truly missed by all of those he met and knew in his lifetime.
James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Doyle McKinney.
“Pee-Wee” is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Jerene McKinney of Tool, daughters Sherrie McLeod and husband Kenneth of Fulshear and Carla Gray and husband Doug of Seven Points, brothers Joyle McKinney and wife Wanda of Canton and John McKinney and wife Raetta of Canton, sister Mary Nell Jackson of Mesquite, grandchildren Marshal McLeod and wife Stacey of Piedmont, Okla., Natalie Hoven and husband Matt of Everett, Wash., Matthew Gray and wife Rachel of Golden, Colo., great-grandchildren Samantha, Erin, Connor, Eliza and one on the way along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Aug. 27, 2022 officiated by Reverend Donald Kile. Burial followed at the Eureka Cemetery in Eureka.
