Noma West Chriss
Born Dec. 18, 1933 in Austin Norma passed away in her sleep Jan. 2, 2023 after an extended illness.
Noma was a graduate of Forest Avenue High School in Dallas and Dallas Baptist University. She retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in 1993 then moved to Cedar Creek Lake where she became an active member of Cedar Creek Lake UMC, Women’s Club, Literary Guild and a founding member of Cedar Creek Civic League.
Norma was preceded in death by parents Virgil West and Jennie McDowell, husbands Glenn Kirk, Gene Buck and Kenneth Chriss, sisters Virginia Ferrin and Patricia Smithson and son Jon Buck.
She is survived by daughters Julianne Kirk-Bair (Jerry), Jennilea Kirk Brodnax and Susan Buck Thomas, grandchildren Shawn (Doreen) and Scott Veltman, Jon Buck, Jr. (Melissa), Elizabeth Buck Henke, Scott and Kellilea Brodnax, Bryan Glenn Kirk, Brian and Jennifer Bair and Stefani (Ty) Goeken, great-grandchildren Taylor and Jon Robert Veltman, Breylea (Joe) Anderson, Trent Valdez, Madeline, Lillian, Eve Bair, Lukas Goeken, Mitchell and Owen McGarrett, great-great-grandchild Zaylea Rodriguez, sisters Glenna (Ray) Buote, Jeanne Nelsen and Stephanie (Greg) Williams, lifetime friends Connie Werden, Geri Whaley and Carroll Morriss and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to an animal shelter, food pantry or Veteran’s organization as she supported these causes all her life.
A graveside service was held Jan. 7, 2023 at Little Bethel Cemetery.
