Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee recognized

GUN BARREL CITY–Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement non-profit organization, recently named Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee a Gold Star Affiliate, a designation granted to 86 affiliates of KTB’s nearly 300 affiliates. Gold Star recognition is the membership recognition highest status any community affiliate can achieve.

Larry Alex Dorsey, Jr., 47, of Tyler passed away April 30, 2022. Larry was born Aug. 18, 1974 to parents Larry Alex Dorsey, Sr. and Judy Cupp. 
Alex married the love of his life, Jamie Nov. 23, 2019 in Tyler. He was a loving and doting son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. 
Alex was an adventurous and kind hearted man who enjoyed fishing, singing karaoke, dancing and having a cold one with his friends.

Kerens takes Area softball title over Rivercrest

TYLER–The Kerens Lady ‘Cats clinched the Area championship by blanking Rivercrest over two games May 6-7 and move on to the Regional quarterfinals, facing Hawkins in another best-of-three series set for May 12-14.
Versus Rivercrest, in the first game May 6, Kerens scored in every inning for an 11-0 run-rule victory. The Lady ‘Cats scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and added two more runs in the fourth inning.

AREA CHAMPIONS

The Mabank Lady Panthers celebrate their Area championship after 16-2 and 10-0 victories over North Lamar May 6-7 at Winnsboro High School. Mabank will face Pleasant Grove in the Regional quarterfinals May 12-14. Game one is at 6 p.m., Thursday May 12, game two is at 6 p.m., Friday May 13 and game three (if necessary) will take place at 12:30 p.m., Saturday May 14. All games will be played at Winnsboro High School.
