Dorothy Fay Hensley
Dorothy Fay Hensley, born Oct. 22, 1932, in La Feria, Cameron County, to Harry and Mary Bell, passed away July 22, 2024 in Mabank.
Dorothy married Rev. Kenneth C. Hensley June 2, 1951 and together they raised five children. Her husband served as the Reverend of Central Baptist Church, where Dorothy dedicated over 50 years of her life to teaching and praying for hundreds of children in Sunday school classes.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, daughter Anita Hensley Schwartz, brother Bill Bell and wife Betty and sister Ann Costello and husband Pat.
She is survived by daughter Karen Hensley of Mabank, sons Brent Hensley of Mabank, Chris Hensley and his wife Stacy of Martins Mill and Kevin Hensley and wife Rae of Gun Barrel City, twin brother Tom Bell of Mabank, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and the countless children she taught over her five decades of Sunday school service.
Dorothy's unwavering faith, dedication to her family and commitment to her church community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and teaching will continue to inspire generations to come.
Funeral services were held July 29, 2024 at Central Baptist Church in Mabank.
Dorothy was laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery, 18056 E Hwy 175, Mabank, Texas 75147.
Serving as pallbearers were sons Chris Hensley and Kevin Hensley, grandsons Daniel Routt, Clay Busby and Aaron Hensley and great-grandson Clay McCollom.
