Eddith Mae “Eadie” LaCroix, age 105, of Alpena, Mich., passed away peacefully May 10, 2024 at Precious Days.
Eadie was born April 24, 1919 in Fort Worth to the late Edward and Ellie Miller. On Dec. 26, 1936 she married Francis R. LaCroix in Marietta, Okla. She moved from Kemp to Alpena to be with family in 2005.
She led a very active life. Walking the old Alpena Mall six days a week with her only child, Carol Anderson, well into her upper 90s. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center to play bingo and exercise there as well. She loved hummingbirds, flowers and was well known for remembering and sending cards to friends and family for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Family was everything to her.
She gave generously to church and many organizations.
Ralph and Eadie resided in Dallas, Houston, Louisiana and Fort Worth, moving to Cedar Crest Shores in Kemp in 1978 where they built a home and retired. She worked at JC Penny's for 23 years and retired from there in Texas.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank, a member of the Cedar Lake Women's Club and Friendship Sunday School. She was a member in OES Alpena #341, Mabank, TX, OES #821 and Gun Barrel City, TX, OES #1114 where she also served as Worthy Matron from 1988-1989. She served as an officer in Dallas Assembly #63, Social Order of the Beauceant.
Eadie was preceded in death by her husband, beloved sister Octa Belle Hinds, two brothers and her daughter.
Surviving are grandchildren Robyn Smith, Kevin Anderson and Debbie (Paul) LaBell, great-grandchildren Molly Anderson, Alex Anderson, Matthew Smith, Gabriel Smith, Jamie (Eric) Arnold and Erin LaBell and great-great-grandchildren Emma, Ellie, Nessa, Beau, Luke and Opal.
Eadie was laid to rest with her daughter, husband and his family at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth May 21, 2024. Arrangements have been entrusted with McWilliams Funeral Home.
