Evelyn Laverne Ford
On the evening of Nov. 5, 2022, Evelyn Laverne Ford passed quietly away while watching her beloved Texas Longhorns with her son Mike Ford.
Evelyn and her giving heart were a blessing to all she encountered. After retiring from her career as a claims representative with the Social Security Administration, she moved to Seven Points with her late husband Earl Ford.
While living in this area, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. She also volunteered with the local food pantry and was active in her church, teaching young children in Awanas and serving in the church library.
Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Tool. She loved the Lord and she loved her church.
Evelyn never met a stranger and never said no to anyone in need. She loved feeding people food, comfort or both. Whether dropping off her homegrown pecans to friends, cooking for her family or driving down long, pot-holed roads to deliver meals, she always wore a smile. She will be missed by all.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, brother Robert Wilson, daughter Vicky Hicks, grandson Samuel Ford and great-granddaughter Savannah Parker.
She is survived by her children Cindy Ford, Mike Ford and wife Susan, Dolly Markel and husband Dan and Janice Parker and husband Gary, grandchildren Sofi Ford, Noah Markel, Vincent Parker, Jennifer Parker, Stacy Parker and Clayton Hicks and great-grandchildren Seth Doyal and Vincent Parker, Jr.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Tool. Interment followed at Rest Haven Cemetery in Corsicana. Pastor Rocky Weatherford officiated for the Ford family. Pallbearers were Mike Ford, Dan Markel, Noah Markel, Gary Parker, Stanley Mathews and Chris Francis.
Arrangements were made at the direction of Moorhead Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City. To leave an online condolence, visit www.moorheadfuneralhome.com.
