Janet Ann Waldman Countryman
Janet Ann Waldman Countryman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord Dec. 24, 2024, at the age of 81. Janet was born Feb. 1, 1943, in New Jersey to Louis and Ruth Waldman.
As a child, her family moved to California, where she would later meet her husband Gerald, while he was stationed in the Navy. Together, they moved to Mabank where they built a life filled with love, joy and adventure.
Janet was a woman of many talents, with a deep love for nature. She became an accomplished nursery woman and owner of Mabank Garden Center in Gun Barrel City where she shared her passion for plants with the community. Her green thumb was matched only by her nurturing spirit and her garden became a sanctuary for many who crossed her path.
Above all, Janet was a devoted mother to two sons Steve and Mark Countryman and a loving mother-in-law to Carol and Erin Countryman. She cherished her role as a grandmother and her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Janet’s heart overflowed with love for each of them—Mallory (Jeff) Heifrin, Amanda (Zach) Redford, Craig (Shannon) Countryman, Kyle (Laura) Countryman, Chris (Katrina) Countryman and Colton (Cassie) Countryman. She also delighted in the joy of her 12 great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved son Brian Keith Countryman, brother Harold Carpenter, sister Frances and parents.
She is survived by her husband, sons, sister Pamela Waldman of Valencia, Calif., nieces and nephews and a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A woman of grace, kindness and unwavering faith, Janet’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her gentle spirit, boundless love and deep devotion to her family will never be forgotten.
In the words of her family, "Mom, you were our rock, our safe place, and our greatest supporter. We find comfort knowing you are with the Lord, surrounded by His love and peace.”
