John L. Cabbiness
John L. Cabbiness of Gun Barrel City passed away May 11, 2024. John was born in Brownfield Sept. 23, 1940 to Esta Lee and Byron George Cabbiness.
John and Sandy Pierce Pylant met at work and after they were both widowed they were married in January 2006.
John loved John Deere tractors and amassed quite a collection of toys, paraphernalia and large mowers and trailers. John could be seen mowing “Cabbiness Park” at his home. John also was a cotton farmer for 30 years in Brownfield. He sold the farm and then moved to Dallas.
John and Sandy loved adventure…Zip lining, cruising, traveling and estate sales. They always did things “together.” He loved Jesus foremost and his family. Many family gatherings and bible studies were hosted in their loving home.
John was preceded in death by both parents, first wife Ann Lemley Cabbiness, sister Betty Jobe, brother Charles Cabbiness and stepson William E. Pylant.
He is survived by his wife, children Nick Cabbiness and wife Bessie of Philippines, Trina Williams and husband David of Ft. Worth and Randy Pylant and wife Kilene of Dallas, grandchildren Cortlin Cabbiness of Philippines, Colby Cabbiness of Ponca City, Okla., Josh Littlefield and wife Riane of Ft. Worth and Jayme Littlefield of Ft. Worth, great-grandchildren Kate and Jack Littlefield of Ft. Worth as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Christian Life Center located at 2611 W. Main St. in Gun Barrel City. Pastor Barry Boatright will be officiating. Attendants are welcome to wear John Deere apparel of any kind.
