Laura Lea Strickland, 63, beloved daughter, sister and aunt, was called to her eternal home May 24, 2025.
Laura, daughter of Donald and Thelma Strickland, was born Sept. 4, 1961. She was raised in Baton Rouge, La., but later moved to San Antonio to receive her BBS from Texas Bible Institute.
She loved serving the Lord through serving and teaching others. After a varied career in ministry, her final destination was as HR Director at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas.
Another way she ministered was through her local church, her various women’s bible study groups and through the magnitude of friends she made during her years in the Dallas/Kemp area.
Laura owned her own “Beulah Land Farmily” in Kemp. She would often send pictures of beautiful sunsets, her animals grazing in the fields or her flowers. She loved experiencing God through being part of His land.
Laura was preceded in death by her mother and brother Donald L Strickland, Jr. (Tammy).
She is survived by her father and siblings David Strickland (Nicki) and Terri Hymel and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. To some of them she was known as silly “Aunt Lala.”
Laura was laid to rest at Mt. Zion Cemetery. A short graveside service took place May 31, 2025.
And now we leave you with the words Laura saw last thing in the evening and aspired to live by, “Give it to God and go to sleep.”
