Lloyd Joe Thrasher, 82, of Mabank will be laid to rest at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023. Pastor Billy Smith will officiate. There will be an open visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  May 24, 2023 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Lloyd passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family May 18, 2023. He was born August 18, 1940 in Ben Wheeler to Archie and Gertha Lorene (Conger) Thrasher.
He accepted Christ as a teenager and was a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens.
He proudly served this country in the United States Army from September 1958 until September 1960.
Growing up, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the gun range and playing golf. He thoroughly enjoyed entertaining his friends and family and bringing them joy.
His two favorite times of the year were Christmas, when he got to put on his “Red” suit for children of all ages and deer season, when he donned his camo.
Lloyd never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.
Lloyd met Kathy Sanford, the love of his life, with whom he married on Valentine's Day 2003 and they spent 20 wonderful years together.
He loved having all his grandkids around for dinner and holidays so they could play and laugh with him.
Over the course of his career, Lloyd worked for more than 35 years for the telephone company. In addition, he was a 32º Mason, an Eastern Star and a Scottish Rite.
The family would like to thank the staff at UT Home Health, Home Instead, the First Responders and Hospice of East Texas. You brought joy and light into his life and he loved you all.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved parents, sister Bonnie Evans and husband CR, brother AJ Ruth, brother-in-law Ron Sanford, niece Denise Evans, great-nephew Justin Cole and stepdaughter Brandy Wilson.
He is survived by his lovely wife, daughters Taylor McDonald and husband Sky of Seven Points, Lisa Martin and husband Joe of Chandler and Carol Brown and husband Richard of Murchison, sons Thomas Cole and wife Erynn of Calendar Lake and Steve Thrasher and wife Sandy of Murchison, sister Margaret Bonner and husband Charlie of Eustace, sister-in-law Donna Sanford of Canton and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
