Lynn Byron Brantley, 80, of Kemp went to be with the Lord May 22, 2023. Lynn was born Oct. 21, 1942, to Cecil Joel and Laura Ethel Brantley in Dallas.
He grew up in Dallas and graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in 1961.
Lynn married Jacqueline Brantley Aug. 15, 1960 and they have spent a loving 62 years together.
As a teenager, he worked as a barber with his dad and brothers. When he was 20, he decided to join the Dallas Fire Department enjoying a career span of 36 years as a fire and rescue officer from Aug. 1, 1963 to his retirement Aug. 1, 1999.
His barbering skills continued with him throughout his life at the fire station, at the trailer shop and at home.
He greatly enjoyed working with his hands – welding and ranching, building businesses – equipment rental and the trailer shop, cooking for large groups, supporting mission work – Good News Network, Medina Children’s Home, Southwest Christian Services and various mission-related endeavors and a love for hunting and the outdoors.
Lynn understood the welcoming nature of Christ and patterned his life accordingly.  He and Jacqui opened their home in an immeasurable way, both fostering and adopting many children.
Lynn never met a stranger and enjoyed others immensely.  Being a fireman yields to being a prankster and Lynn was one of the best – his humor will likely become tall tales in the years to come.
Lynn was an active member of the Hawn Freeway Church of Christ in Dallas until moving to the farm in 2001 and then worshipped with the Seven Points congregation.
Lynn was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
His parents preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, children Valarie Lynn Raley and husband Thomas, Lynn Brantley  Jr. and wife Wendy, Trisha Lynn Brantley, Diep Ulrich and husband Chuck, Andrew Lynn Brantley and wife Tina, Christian Lynn Brantley and Adam Lynn Brantley and wife Crystal,  grandchildren Haley (Nick), Cody (Abi), Boot (Mallory), Mandie (Tyler), Elise (Austin), Alex (Aly), Michael (Tiffanie), Cole, Austin, Ashley (Justin), Skylar, Reese, Adeline, Eleanor, Layne (Amanda), Michael (Sarah), Jared (Jackie), CJ (Imelda) and Logan (Amanda), great-grandchildren Sage, Kate, Remi Jane, Palmer, Perri, Madilynn Grace (arriving July), baby Fisher (arriving December), Cheyenne, Aubrey, Camden, Coby, Zoe, Kiera, Quinn, Devin, Dax, Ella, Alexander and Kinsley, siblings Michael Brantley and wife Gwynda, Gary Brantley and wife Linda and Jennifer Dipprey and husband Gary and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
