Mae Pearl (Mixson) Prda passed away peacefully Jan. 22, 2024 at the age of 101, at her home in Payne Springs.
Her valiant effort to recover from a broken hip in recent months showed her courage and optimism in facing life’s challenges. She was born Sept. 6, 1922 in Grays Prairie to William and Minnie (Hutchison) Mixson.
Mae married her beloved husband George Stanley Prda Sept. 14, 1940 in Kaufman. They were married for 58 years until his death in 1998.
“Granny,” as she was affectionately known, was a faithful Christian, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great/great-great grandmother and friend to many throughout her amazing life.
She loved traveling with her husband on business trips or simply riding around in the car.
She loved polka music, dancing and old westerns. She had an AMAZING memory, was a born storyteller and was also known to enjoy an occasional margarita from time to time!
Granny will especially be remembered for how she always protected and cared for the needs of her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure and her love a guide to us all.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, parents, children James Stanley Prda, Janie Marie (Prda) Jackson and Donald Michael Prda, brothers William “Bryant” Mixson and James “Jim” Woodrow Mixson.
She is survived by son Ronnie Paul Prda (Brenda), grandchildren Matt Prda, Sha Henry (Scooter), Marc Prda (Leah), Jennifer Prda (William), Ashley Prda, Sondra Coleman, Kari Jackson (Bill), Andy Prda (Jenn), Chris Prda (Donna), Rachel Prda (Shane), Chad Prda (Jami), Ian Ruehle (Sarah), Peyton West (Jonathan) and Janie Mae Prda, 27 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
