Martha Jean Hutchison LaRue passed away peacefully Nov. 18, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy battle with Dementia. She was 88 years old. 
A graduate of Mabank High School, class of 1953, Martha remained close to her friends and classmates. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mabank. She taught children’s Sunday School classes and worked in the AWANAS program. 
Martha was a very dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended many of the activities that they were involved in. 
After graduating, Martha and Mike lived in Waco for several years while Mike attended Baylor University. They then lived in Duncan, Okla., Corpus Christi, Tulsa, Okla. and San Antonio before moving to the Dallas area. 
In 2013, they returned to Mabank. Martha worked for several different companies while raising her family, but her favorite places that she worked were the Corpus Christi Independent School District and the Carrolton Farmers Branch School District. She loved doing whatever it took to make children successful. 
Martha’s hobbies included reading, walking, cooking, sewing and quilting. She loved to cook. Martha was very well known for her coconut pies, which earned her several awards. 
In 2002, Martha joined the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild. She was an accomplished quilter, earning many ribbons for her beautiful quilts. She served as treasurer of the guild for several terms.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Marie Hutchison, siblings Reba Morton, Patricia Cope, Jerry Dwayne, Jesse Jr., and Mike “Hutch” Hutchison and granddaughter Emily LaRue.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Mike “Mike” LaRue, children and spouses Jeff and Kathy LaRue, Nedra and Glen Francisco and Blane and Meg LaRue, grandchildren and spouses Kevin LaRue, Chris LaRue, Jessica LaRue Briscoe and Shawn Briscoe, Amanda Roberson Gathmann and Ryan Gathmann and Jordann Roberson and great-grandchildren Eleanor Gathmann, Grace Gathmann and Malcolm Briscoe.
Martha will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Mabank or the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild.
