Mary Lucille “Lucy” (Montgomery) Gray was born June 26, 1956 in Kirksville, Mo., to Edgar and Rosemary Montgomery. 
Lucy was involved in band, basketball and 4H while in high school. She graduated at the top of her class from Schuyler County R1, Queen City, Mo., in 1974. She was a member of the Christian Church in Greentop, Mo. and participated in the youth group until she graduated.  
Lucy moved to Texas in 1977 and landed in the Cedar Creek Lake area in 1984, starting a successful career as a real estate agent and broker for almost 40 years. She was most currently associated with Ebby Halliday Real Estate located in Gun Barrel City. 
Lucy gave back to her community by working with the Gun Barrel Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls (Masonic youth group), the Cedar Creek Meals on Wheels and the Cedar Creek Women’s Club. 
Lucy fell in love with Texas and the lake which was evidenced by her boots and western style. She was a lady of many talents and interests, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. She was a caring and helpful friend to many that loved her.
Mary was proceeded in death by her husband James G Gray, her parents, brothers Ernie and Edward and one sister Lois Holloway.  
She is survived by sisters Lila Easley of Kirksville and Linda Montgomery of LaPlata, Mo. and brothers Eugene Montgomery of Kingsland, Ga., Ellison Montgomery of Murray, Ky. and Eldon Montgomery of New Franklin, Mo. and many nieces and nephews. 
Lucy passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2023 at Homeplace, a wonderful hospice facility in Tyler where she succumbed to lung cancer. Thanks are given to her special friend John Girard who cared for her throughout her cancer fight. 
Lucy donated her body to the UT Southwestern research program and there will be no memorial service in accordance with her wishes but she will always remain in our hearts.
