It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patty Rene (Graves) Oliver, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Sept. 4, 2023, at the age of 94, she went to be with her Jesus.
Patty graduated from North Dallas High School in 1946. She met Gene while they were working at Love Field Airport in Dallas. She held multiple executive secretarial positions. Her shorthand and typing were unparalleled.
As a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Mabank, she had many close friends. Everyone enjoyed her sense of humor. She loved the Lord and had a deep desire to serve him and love people. She was involved in Awanas, VBS and anything that involved ministering to children. She also enjoyed her time at the Senior Citizens Center. She made holidays special with her cooking, especially her famous chocolate pie and she loved playing games and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a memory-maker as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Rocking, singing and hugging were her specialties. She welcomed all who joined her family and loved supporting her sons-in-law and daughters-in law. She was truly an example of a Proverbs 31 woman.
At the time of Patty’s passing, she resided at The Lodge in Gun Barrel City. She created bonds there with her sense of humor and love towards others. They loved her like their own family.
Patty touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving a legacy of love, faith and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were blessed to share in her life’s journey.
Patty was predeceased by her husband of 72 years Wilburn Eugene Oliver, son David Wesley Oliver, brother Truman Eugene Graves and sister Etta Faye Paris.
She is survived by daughter Dianne Taylor and husband Jim, sons Donald Craig Oliver and wife Marty and Daniel Lawrence Oliver and wife Donna, as well as nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Patty’s life was held Sept. 10, 2023 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank. Interment followed in Cedar Creek Memorial Park.
