Wanda L. Benson, 94, passed away Nov. 5, 2023, in Mabank. She was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Pontiac, Mich., to parents Earl and Martha (Dowdy) Giles.
Wanda’s life was filled with rich experiences and cherished moments. One of her proudest accomplishments was marrying John in Ithaca, N.Y. July 11, 1953. Their union was a testament to their unwavering love and commitment to each other over the years. 
Wanda was a business owner of Metroplex Luggage Sales and Repairs. She was more than just an entrepreneur, she was a pillar of strength within her community. Her passion for her business was evident to all who entered Metroplex Luggage Sales and Repairs. 
With a warm smile and genuine care for her customers, Wanda built lasting relationships that extended far beyond business transactions. She dedicated herself to providing excellent service and ensuring that every customer felt valued and appreciated.
Beyond her successful marriage and career, Wanda had an array of hobbies and interests that brought her profound joy. Gardening allowed her to cultivate beauty, while cooking allowed her to share delicious meals with loved ones. Perhaps one of the most cherished aspects of Wanda’s life was gathering with her family. These gatherings were filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Wanda was preceded by her parents and brothers Buddy and Bill Giles.
She is survived by her husband John W. Benson of Gun Barrel City, daughters Barbara Seastrunk and husband Bruce of Clayton, Okla, Susan Benson of Schertz and Cathie Stringer and husband Dale of Forney, sons Bruce Benson of Trinidad and Chris Benson and wife Marietza of Ben Wheeler, sisters Wilma Sutherland, Nita Pippins and  Diane Rowe, sister-in-law Edith Giles, grandsons Seth Seastrunk and wife Angela, Caleb Seastrunk, Robert Warman, Richard Warman, Ryan Warman and wife Hayley, Dalton Stringer and wife Liz, Brandon Stringer and wife Hollie and Drew Benson and wife Alexis, granddaughters Camerine Johnson and husband Robert, Anja Habib and husband Paul and Sarah Smith and husband Ben, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
