Middle School team breaks state record

Eustace Archers celebrate victories at the 2023 Texas National Archery in Schools Program Bullseye/International Bowhunters Organization (IBO) State Tournament.

EUSTACE–Eustace ISD announced March 25 that the school’s archery teams had seen great success at the 2023 Texas National Archery in Schools Program Bullseye/International Bowhunters Organization (IBO) State Tournament.
In Bullseye results, the Eustace High School Archery team took the silver with an overall score of 3329. In individual results, Cole Carpenter claimed eighth and Payton Miller took tenth.
The middle school team not only claimed first place, becoming the new State champions but also set a new state record with a score of 3422. This was also the highest recorded score in the nation for 2023. 
In individual results for middle school, Miles Morton and Amber McAllister were named Middle School State Champions in the boys’ and girls’ divisions. Bobby Ross took fourth in boys’ individual competition, Tatum Burks took fifth, and Collin Russell took eighth. In girls’ individual competitions, Margaret Jenkins won second place, Landry Huggins claimed sixth, and Lexi Cleek and Lainey Lewis tied for ninth.
In IBO competition, the high school team claimed fifth place overall with a score of 1646. In boys’ individual results, Cole Carpenter won sixth place and Dustin McCray came in tenth. In girls’ results, Page Miller earned tenth place.
The middle school team again swept the competition, winning another State Champion title with a score of 1686 in IBO. Miles Morton was also named individual State Champion in the boys’ division in this category, with Tatum Burks coming in third. Landry Huggins was named IBO Girls’ State Champion, with Margaret Jenkins coming in third, Madyson Borden placing sixth, and Amber McAllister taking tenth place.
