MABANK–Mabank coaches, athletes, family and friends gathered Sunday, May 15 at Mabank High School to honor athletes and coaches for what was quite a memorable year for the Panthers and Lady Panthers.
For the Mabank tennis team, Most Improved went to Anthony Duran with Panther Heart going to Keegan Kirlin. The boys’ MVP went to Colin Loudan with the girls’ MVP going to Ana Martinez.
In girls’ powerlifting, Panther Heart went to Essence Reynolds. The Lightweight Lifter of the Year was Mia Bacy and the Heavyweight Lifter of the Year went to Moriah Miller. The girls’ MVP was Victoria Shepherd.
For boys’ powerlifting, the Panther Heart award went to Nathan Carruth. The Lightweight Lifter of the Year went to Sam Carter and the Heavyweight Lifter of the Year was Samuel Bowker. Raul Carrasco took home the boys’ MVP award.
In girls’ cross country, Most Improved Runner went to Trista Etheridge. The Panther Heart award went to Felicity Torres and the Runner of the Year was Kai Hudson. In boys’ cross country, the Panther Heart went to Minh Nguyen and the Co-Runners of the Year were Carter Dennie and David Deatherage.
For the girls’ basketball team, the Panther Heart award went to Lillianna Forrest. The Offensive Player of the Year was Savannah Wagner and the Defensive Player of the Year was Brooke Ford. The girls’ basketball MVP was Lauren Carter.
In boys’ basketball, the Panther Heart award went to Sean Henry. The Defensive Player of the Year went to Jordan Flores and the MVP was Cade Wilson. 
For the Lady Panthers volleyball team, Ashlyn Thompson was the Most Improved Player and the Panther Heart award went to Corey Greathouse. The Offensive Player of the Year was Baylee Sales and the Defensive Player of the Year was Kai Hudson. The volleyball MVP went to Savannah Wagner. 
For girls’ golf, the Panther Heart award went to Hallie Anderson and the Golfer of the Year was Brooklyn Taylor. In boys’ golf, the Panther Heart award went to Coy McManus and Cash Teague. The boys’ Golfer of the Year was Jacob Steele.
After a memorable softball season came to a close recently, the Lady Panthers were honored Sunday. Most Improved went to Chloe Holland the Panther Heart award went to Ashlyn Liles. The Offensive Player of the Year was Carlee Cline and the Defensive Player of the Year was Presley Green. The softball MVP was Kai Hudson. 
For the baseball squad, Tyler McNiel was the Panther Heart award winner. The Offensive Player of the Year was Ty Reedy and Peyton Phillips was the Defensive Player of the Year. Coy McManus took home Pitcher of the Year honors.
In boys’ soccer, the Panther Heart award went to Rony Cruz. The Offensive Player of the Year was Jose Campa and the Defensive Player of the Year was Jacob Walker. The boys’ soccer MVP was Victor Campa. In girls’ soccer, the Panther Heart award went to Morgan Armstrong. The Offensive Player of the Year was Makenzie Stephens and the Defensive Player of the Year was MoBe Hinkle. MVP honors went to Racheal Farrell and Kyleigh Smith. 
In cheerleading, the Panther Heart went to Haylee Greene and Lexi Litchfield. The Newcomer of the Year was Chloe Ingram and Cheerleader of the Year was Chloe Hines. 
For the athletic trainers, the Panther Heart award went to Abbigail Eubanks. Newcomer of the Year was Allie Livingston and the Student Athletic Trainer of the Year was Haylee Greene. 
For the Panthers football team, Panther Heart went to Caleb Chase. The Offensive Player of the Year was Beau Kilgore and the Defensive Player of the Year was Kaizen Burrows. The Lineman of the Year went to Eric Flores with Caleb Goforth taking home MVP honors.
In girls’ track, the Panther Heart award went to Victoria Shepherd. Field Event of the Year went to Jessica Penix and Sprinter of the Year was Laurent Carter. The Distance Runner of the Year was Felicity Torres and the MVP went to freshman Trista Etheridge, who set two school records, was Regional champion in the 800m and qualified for State. 
In boys’ track, the Panther Heart award went to Sean Henry. Field Event of the Year went to Ty Perkins and the Sprinter of the Year was Ty’rand Blanton. Caleb Penney was the Distance Runner of the Year and MVP honors went to Beau Kilgore. Sean Henry also set a new school record in the 400m and the team of Ty’rand Blanton, Beau Kilgore, Sean Henry and Jayden Rogers set a new school record in the 1600m relay that had stood for 63 years. 
To wrap up the athletic season were the overall awards. The Mabank Coach of the Year went to Panthers Head Baseball Coach Kevin Bartley. The 2021-22 District 14-4A Softball Coach of the Year went to Colby Sales.
The Female Athlete of the Year was Lauren Carter and the Male Athlete of the Year went to Caleb Goforth and Sean Henry.
