Malakoff Tiger baseball player Mike Jones, shown pitching April 13 against Eustace, is named Aug. 1 as Honorable Mention on the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State baseball team after his junior season, during which he went 9-0 with a 1.06 ERA, striking out 78 batters, 22 of those looking.
