MABANK—Mabank Police Department responded to a call Nov. 7, in the 500 Block of East Kaufman Street where a resident reported hearing gunshots outside.
According to a press release, a patrolman who was working in the area located a male running down the street with an apparent injury. The male was detained and given medical attention immediately and identified as Tyrese Ramsey.
It was later determined that Ramsey got into an altercation with an acquaintance, who was later identified as Terrence Boley Jr.

The Sarah Maples Chapter of the NSDAR presents a program Nov. 9 commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War at the Mabank Veterans Memorial. The oldest veteran at the ceremony, Victor Chaney, is given special recognition for his service during World War II. Chaney spoke passionately about his recent trip to Normandy, France as part of a Freedom Flight that commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Congratulating him is Janet Erwin.
KERENS–The Kerens Bobcats staged a second-half comeback on Senior Night against the Cayuga Wildcats Nov. 1, erasing a 13-0 deficit to win their second District 8-2A football game and remain in the hunt for the playoffs.
Kerens, 4-5 for the season overall, got things started in the third quarter when quarterback Muziq Gunnell threw a 24-yard pass to Jachi Rooks. After that, Gunnell ran 4 yards for Kerens’ first touchdown, reducing their deficit to 13-7.

The Kiwanis Club of Cedar Creek Lake shops for deserving students from area schools including Tool Elementary, Eustace and Trinidad. Students receive warm clothing for the upcoming Fall and Winter season. Community members join in to help shop for the children.
