County approves rural broadband agreement

HENDERSON COUNTY–Henderson County Commissioners’ Court voted Nov. 7 to approve an agreement with Brightspeed (Connect Holding II LLC) to enhance broadband services, related to American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund projects.
That means Henderson County is wrapping up its part of what the court described as a “long process” to use federal COVID relief money to bring high-speed internet to underserved, rural areas of the county.

County Emergency Management discusses flooding

KAUFMAN COUNTY–Kaufman County Commissioners heard from Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie on severe area flooding and efforts to help those affected at the court’s regular meeting Oct. 31.
Howie told commissioners that the area in and around Kaufman had received 14.4 inches of rain between Friday night and Monday morning, with 10 inches of that coming down on Saturday, causing significant flooding.
