MABANK–Mabank Intermediate School (MIS) is proud to announce that they have been awarded the Capturing Kids Hearts Rising Star Award for 2024.
This award recognizes the campus's dedication to building strong relationships with both students and staff. Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) is a national organization that equips schools with tools and strategies for creating relationship-driven environments and fostering social-emotional learning and well-being.
In August 2023, every staff member at MIS underwent training in CKH implementation practices. This training has empowered our staff with valuable skills in building meaningful relationships, effective conflict resolution, and team building techniques to cultivate positive classroom environments. 
MIS extends their heartfelt thanks to the MISD School Board and Dr. Marshall for their support and unwavering dedication not only to MIS students but to all students in our district. Their leadership and commitment to fostering a nurturing educational environment have been instrumental in MIS’ success.
A very special thanks goes to our CKH Leadership Coach, Tina Tompkins. “Her guidance and encouragement have been crucial factors in our success, and we're grateful to have her in our corner cheering us on every step of the way,” stated MIS on social media. 
MIS also wants to express their heartfelt appreciation to the incredible teachers for wholeheartedly embrace the Capturing Kids Hearts program and for their dedication to empowering students. Through their efforts, students have been encouraged to take the lead in daily greetings, sharing "good things" and closing class with a daily "launch.” “We are truly grateful for their commitment to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered,” said MIS. 
MIS also thanked their students, “To our amazing students, we want to say a big thank you for all that you do! Your enthusiasm, kindness, and dedication to embodying the principles of Capturing Kids Hearts have truly made a difference in our school community. From leading daily greetings at the door, sharing "good things," to spearheading launches of various initiatives, your leadership shines through in every aspect of our school life. You have become the awesome CKH leaders that inspire us all, and we couldn't be prouder of the positive impact you're making every day.”
