CEDAR CREEK LAKE—A Christmas gift that Patricia Anderson never thought would happen to her finally happened courtesy of KLTY 94.9 FM and their annual Christmas Wish program.
Out of thousands of submissions, Anderson’s mother Kim Metker wrote a letter that caught KLTY’s eye. In the letter, Metker detailed Anderson’s situation noting that Anderson is a single mom to three boys ages ten, seven, and five, left everything behind to get out of an abusive relationship, and walks to clean houses or to whatever job she has for that day. She also noted that Anderson didn’t see Christmas happening for her three boys unless a miracle happened.
KLTY ended up reaching out to Anderson, not once but twice then she was invited to meet KLTY at an event with her boys. When she arrived, she was given $1.00 and all they told her was that she may need that later. The boys were given bicycles during the event and a KLTY representative asked Anderson if she had a way to get the bicycles home. “Well, no, not really,” said Anderson. But KLTY had it all worked out, Anderson was led to a gift that would have no problem getting those bicycles home. It turns out KLTY was so touched by Metker’s letter that Anderson was gifted a 2020 Chevrolet Trax of which she only had to pay $1.00. Anderson told The Monitor, “This doesn’t happen to me. I can’t believe what an amazing blessing this has been.” Anderson said the car came with the taxes, title, and license paid, two months of insurance paid through Geico, OnStar, a full tank of gas, and when it comes time for her tags to be renewed that is paid as well. Anderson said the car was also “loaded down with toys” for her boys.
The car was provided by Freedom Chevy, Buick, GMC by Ed Morse located in Desoto. Chairman/CEO Teddy Morse explained to Anderson that instead of a company Christmas party the staff chooses to bless others during the holiday season.
“I live in downtown Mabank surrounded by churches, I still struggle to pay rent, I still help the less fortunate when I can, but I felt like the devil has thrown everything at me,” Anderson explained then continued, “We grow through what we go through, and I know that this was a 100% blessing from God.”
