KAUFMAN COUNTY–Kaufman County Commissioners voted Dec. 19, 2023 to award funding for the State Highway 34 and US 175 project to Pavecon, an industry-leading paving contractor serving multiple states throughout the country, in the amount of $3,450,477.70.
Bids were accepted by the county Nov. 11-30, 2023. The amount bid by Pavecon is higher than the county’s engineering estimate, however, still lower than the amount budgeted for the project which will include two new roadways connecting SH 34 and US 175.
The work will consist of approximately 13,500 square yards of pavement, 3,400 linear feet of storm pipe and new culverts, as well as tree removal, pavement striping and excavation.
Pavecon will begin mobilization on the project within 30 days of the county’s contract approval. Once the work begins, the company is contractually obligated to complete the project within a specified timeline.
Commissioners voted unanimously to award the contract to Pavecon and stated they were ready to get the project moving.
