CEDAR CREEK LAKE–The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested five people for drug-related offenses Nov. 4-5 in Malakoff, Log Cabin and the Eustace area.
According to HCSO, at about 10:25 p.m. Nov. 4, a team led by Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Barrios and K-9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez, along with other investigators, conducted a narcotics search warrant in the 400 block of North Smith Street in Malakoff. The search warrant was issued by 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee, the sheriff’s office said.
During the execution of the search warrant, the sheriff’s office said Ricardo Castaneda Cruz was taken into custody while searching the residence. Investigators located two containers with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine inside his bedroom dresser, along with several plastic baggies and scales which are commonly used in narcotics distribution, HSCO stated. A large amount of money and two weapons were also located at the residence, the HCSO release said.
Cruz was transported to the Henderson County Jail in Athens and booked in for two counts of Manufacture or Delivery Controlled Substance, the sheriff’s office said.
While investigators were conducting the search warrant at North Smith Street, a second team led by Narcotics Investigator Jude Bonner and other deputies conducted a second search warrant a block away in the 300 block of Olive Street in Malakoff, HCSO stated. The search warrant was also issued by Judge McKee, the sheriff’s office said.
During the execution of the search warrant, two subjects, Carlos Soto and Jenifer Hughes, were taken into custody, the release said. Deputies observed Carlos throwing narcotics into the front yard when investigators arrived on scene, HCSO alleged. While searching the residence, suspected methamphetamine was located inside the bedroom, along with several plastic baggies and scales which are commonly used in narcotics distribution, according to HCSO.
Soto and Hughes were transported to the county jail and booked in for Manufacture or Delivery Controlled Substance and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence (Soto) and for Hughes, Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Also Nov. 4, Deputies Blake Forney, Dahltyn McKinley, and Sgt. Patrick Johnson were patrolling on Ranch to Market Road 3054 in the Log Cabin area. Deputies observed a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed, the HCSO account said. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the HCSO narrative continues. During the traffic stop, deputies allegedly detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted a search of the vehicle. During that search, a small clear baggie containing broken pills were found, the sheriff’s office said, with the investigation later identifying as acetaminophen and hydrocodone, which are classified as a penalty group 3 narcotic, HCSO said. A zip-close bag containing mushrooms was also found in the vehicle, the allegations state. Quincy Larry was then placed into custody and transported to the Henderson County Jail and booked for two different charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, with varying weights, the sheriff’s office stated.
Nov. 5, Deputy McKinley and Sgt. Johnson said they observed a car sitting on the side of the road in the 7100 block of U.S. Highway 175 near Eustace. Deputies stopped to conduct a motorist assist, they said. While out with the vehicle, a search was conducted, according to HCSO. During the search, a zip-close bag containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamines was located, the sheriff’s office alleged. Amanda Toombs was placed into custody and transported to the Henderson County Jail where she was booked for the charge of one weight class within the law against Possession of a Controlled Substance.
