A double-wide trailer on East Acres Loop becomes fully involved with fire July 2. Gun Barrel City Fire Department responds with assistance from Payne Springs Fire Rescue and the Mabank Fire Department.

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Fire Rescue departments were busy July 1-3 with several fires and accidents across the area.
The volunteers of Payne Springs Fire Rescue (PSFR) were alerted to assist the Eustace Area Volunteer Fire Department on a grass fire on CR2709 July 1. Brush 1, Brush 2, Engine 2, and Tanker 2 responded, with North 19 Fire Rescue also assisting. The fire was quickly contained by the departments.
After Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake, PSFR was called to six fires between 9 p.m. and midnight. The department responded to three small grass fires, two illegal burns and a structure fire in Eustace. Each of these calls were back-to-back with four fires being worked simultaneously. PSFR says their fleet of apparatus were heading in different directions while adjusting responses.
The fire in Eustace was contained to some towels and was quickly extinguished. The structure was then ventilated.
The Gun Barrel City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4:21 a.m. July 2, in the 200 block of East Acres Loop. Gun Barrel Engine 51 was first on scene and reported a double wide trailer to be well involved with fire through the roof.
Gun Barrel City was assisted by PSFR and Mabank Fire Department, which provided water. UT Health EMS responded along with the Gun Barrel City Police Department. The trailer was unoccupied and there were no injuries to the firefighters.
At 10:40 a.m., PSFR was alerted to a motor vehicle collision on the new bridge between Caney City and Payne Springs. PSFR Chief 1 requested a response from Caney City Fire to help shut down north bound traffic.
Units arrived to find three vehicles involved. Only one occupant required transport by EMS. The bridge was closed for an extended time to remove the vehicles and the debris.
