Kaufman County to install stop signs in Precinct 2

KAUFMAN COUNTY—The Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court held its regular weekly meeting March 18, during which the commissioner’s held a public hearing on the addition of stop signs in an area located in precinct 2. 
The stop signs would be installed at the east and west bound directions of University Dr. Precinct 2 Commissioner Skeet Phillips stated that there is already one stop sign at the intersection, but school buses are having difficulty crossing the intersection. Adding the two other stop signs would create a three-way stop, hopefully providing a remedy to the situation. 
No one signed up to speak during the public hearing regarding the stop signs and commissioners approved the installation of the stop signs unanimously. 
Also approved were the purchases of vehicles for precincts one, two and four. Two 2024 Ford F-250 trucks were approved for purchase utilizing HGACBuy Contract VE05-24 for precinct 4, and one Ford F-250 and one Ford F-350 trucks were approved for purchase utilizing HGACBuy Contract VE05-24 for precinct 1, without financing. Princinct 2 Road and Bridge also received approval to purchase a Broce RCT-30 Broom which utilized BuyBoard Contract number 685-022 and the purchase of two 2025 Dodge RAM 2500’s which utilized TIPS Contract number 240901.
In other business, the court:
• Approved a resolution regarding the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Grant application. 
• Approved trenching water lines under County Road 202 in Precinct 1 and under Old Nacogdoches Trail in Precinct 1.
• Approved regular meeting minutes from the March 11 meeting. 
• Approved the deputation of Chris Pickle in the County Clerk’s Office. 
• Approved claims for payment in the amount of $2,895,707.66.
