The Gun Barrel City Fire and Police Departments respond to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Donna Drive at 4:11 a.m., July 17.  Gun Barrel City Police Department were first to arrive on scene. They advised the structure was fully involved with a vehicle on fire in the driveway. The first Gun Barrel City engine reported on scene that a second home adjacent to the burning structure was on fire and a third residence was threatened. Gun Barrel City Fire Command requested mutual aid from fire departments from both Henderson and Kaufman County. The fire was brought under control after approximately one hour and took another two hours to fully extinguish. The residence that was initially on fire was not occupied at the time of the fire and was a total loss along with the contents. The second residence was occupied at the time of the fire and sustained significant fire, water and smoke damage. The resident and pets were uninjured. The third residence sustained damage to the exterior. The American Red Cross responded to the scene and was assisting the affected resident. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters. The Henderson County Fire Marshal was on scene and this incident is under investigation. UT Health EMS monitored the firefighters due to the heat and humidity. Gun Barrel City Fire Department was assisted by Payne Springs Fire Rescue, Mabank Fire Department, Eustace Fire Department, Tool Fire Rescue, Seven Points Fire Department, Long Cove Fire Department and Kemp Fire Department.
