Mabank ISD hires 92 teachers to begin the 2023–2024 school year. Teachers were treated to a BBQ lunch and a meet and greet with administrators and School Board members.

MABANK–Mabank Independent School District held a luncheon on Aug. 8 for new teachers joining the district. Out of the 92 new hires, several are coming from Mabank Alumni, returning retired teachers, teaching as a second career as well as teachers coming from different parts of the country, the furthest being from New Hampshire.
To show support and encouragement, each new teacher walked away with a bag filled with items donated from the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce members, including a Summer Discover Cedar Creek Lake magazine from The Monitor. The new teachers were treated to a BBQ lunch, drink and dessert, along with time to visit and get better acquainted with the administration from their school.
Mabank ISD Superintendent Dr. Russell Marshall and Assistant Superintendent Clay Tracy walked around to tables introducing themselves, greeting and visiting with the new hires in the district.
Tracy thanked all those that were involved with the planning and setting up of the luncheon, which was held at the Mabank High School in the commons area. Marshall introduced himself and school board members that were able to attend.  School board President Todd Grimes welcomed teachers and offered encouragement and support from the school board. Each school in the district has a good representation of new teachers, coaches, nurses, and support staff for the 2023 -2024 school year.
Tracy then asked the teachers to stand, one by one, and introduce themselves along with telling which school and grade they will be teaching. A sense of support and community was demonstrated as each teacher spoke of a special talent, experience, or interesting fact about themselves.
The luncheon was rounded off by a time of visiting then heading back to their campuses to get ready for returning students.
