MABANK‑The City of Mabank council met for their regular session May 13. The session congratulated spotlight employees City Judge Jan Groom and Ramon Mendez from the street department. Groom was also part of the swearing for the two re-elected city council members.
Council seats that were open for the May 3 election were for mayor and two council members seats. Mayor Randy Teague ran unopposed, council members Joey Rich and Daren Day were up for re-election with Ty Thompson running as an opponent. Mayor Pro-Tem John Chappell sat in for Teague during this session and announced that the canvasing was complete. Chappell said, “Mayor Teague ran unopposed, Ty Thompson had 40 votes,  Day had a total of 117 votes and Joey Rich had a total of 126 votes.
With all the numbers canvassed Day and Rich were declared to be elected. Groom stood by and swore in the two council members.
In other business, council members: 
• Awarded S-Co, Inc. for construction on the water treatment plant, wastewater discharge line for $424,218.
• Approved preliminary plat for Mabank Meadows Phase 7 – drainage.
• Approved to apply for TxDOT grant to build sidewalks connecting subdivisions Cedar Creek Landing, The Country Club and Lighthouse Landing to sidewalks in Mabank.
• Approved to purchase a Ditch Witch RT125 for $249,000.
• Approved to purchase 2025 Ford F150 for $20,558.
• Approved to purchase Ford F350 for $57,657.
• Approved to purchase dump bed for the Ford F350 for $10,000.
