CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Payne Springs Police Chief April Meadows and Officer Jonathan Hutchison were arrested March 9 as Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, DPS Troopers, Henderson County District Attorney Office and Mabank Police executed search warrants on the residences of both individuals.
Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found at a residence in Kaufman County while a similar search in Henderson County turned up suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and suspected steroids.
Meadows and Jonathan Hutchison were arrested on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and money laundering. Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said his office has been investigating allegations that the pair was dealing drugs that had been seized by the Payne Springs Police Department.
Hillhouse stated that this is an ongoing investigation and more charges may be pending. An additional search warrant was executed at the impound yard of the police department.
Meadows and Hutchison were arraigned in Henderson County and bail was set by District Judge Scott McKee at $1.5 million on each charge.
Payne Springs City Council held an emergency meeting Saturday, March 11 to deal with the aftermath.
