GUN BARREL CITY—During the Gun Barrel City Council meeting held Feb. 27, the council unanimously approved two ordinances and a preliminary plat enabling the Pier 334 Development to proceed with development plans.
The first ordinance, O-2024-007 would rezone Pier 334, LLC from a General Business District (B-2) to a Planned Development District (PD). The passing of this ordinance was made with a motion including two conditions. The first was the requirement of a masonry wall constructed along Jeffery Circle in place of an iron fence and the installation of a solid gate at the emergency entrance on Jeffery Circle. The second condition was the requirement of Pier 334, LLC to provide 25 trees to the Gun Barrel City Parks Department. Gun Barrel City Council Member Kenneth Foster, who made the motion, stated it was to mitigate the tree situation at the site. Ordinance, O-2024-008 was also approved which amended the comprehensive land use plan and map for Pier 334, LLC.
The development will be a hotel/restaurant complex which will include a marina, splash park, amphitheater and fishing pier. A 62-room boutique Hilton Tapestry hotel, banquet hall, restaurant and coffee shop are in the plans along with four additional restaurants.
