CEDAR CREEK LAKE–The combination of consistent rainfall and summer break has already frustrated parents and childcare givers in the Cedar Creek Lake area. Fortunately, our local libraries, The Library at Cedar Creek Lake and Tri-County Library have planned events that will entertain and engage your children for free, that is right for free!
On the west side of Cedar Creek Lake you will find The Library at Cedar Creek Lake, located in Seven Points. They began summer activities the first week of June with Storytime on Mondays, Art activities on Tuesdays, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on Wednesdays. Each Monday at 1 p.m. the library will host unique events with animals or science as the main theme. Adult literacy classes, GED classes, and resume writing classes are also offered. The Library at Cedar Creek Lake is a proctored testing center, just check with your institution or continuing education organization for approval. For more information on activities at The Library at Cedar Creek Lake visit https://cedarcreeklibrary.com/events or call (903) 432-4185.
Tri-County Library is located on Market Street in Mabank and offers storytime each Wednesday with guest readers from the Mabank area. Beginning in June children can participate in the reading program. Young readers will decorate a reading bag and earn points for reading and those who participate in the reading program will be invited to a reading party that will take place at HomeTown Cinema.
Those who do not participate in the reading program are invited to attend the party for a minimal cost of $3. Each Thursday in the month of June there will be a show. The shows begin at 2 p.m. in the community room. The entertainment will consist of magic, cowboy roping, and the famous Nana Pudding, a hilarious ventriloquist show with witty talking animals. For more information on events visit https://www.tricountylibrary.org/community-calendar or call (903) 887-9622.
You do not have to go any further for free summer fun than our local libraries. While you are there pick up a book or two, they have something for the whole family.
