Suspect apprehended, charged with murder

HENDERSON COUNTY–The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call March 24, in reference to the shooting of 30-year-old Samantha Moore in the Bonita Point subdivision just outside of Gun Barrel City. 
According to a press release, Moore was transported to UT Health Emergency Room in Gun Barrel City by UT Health EMS personnel. Deputies responded to the call and according to the press release learned Moore’s brother, John Clague, had allegedly shot her and fled the residence.
Deputies along with Gun Barrel City Police Department Officers, Henderson County District Attorney’s Office and Texas Rangers began searching the area for Clague. Social media posts were made asking for assistance in locating Clague. During the search for Clague Deputies were notified that Moore had passed away from her injuries.
A search warrant was issued by Henderson County 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee for the residence in Bonita Point where the shooting occurred. Investigators began working the crime scene.
Investigators learned that Clague had allegedly been taken to a residence in the Harbor Point subdivision in Gun Barrel City and dropped off. Deputies went to the residence to attempt to locate Clague, according to the release. 
Judge McKee also issued an arrest warrant for Clague for the offense of Murder along with search warrants for the property in Harbor Point.
The press release states that the Henderson County Tactical Team responded to the residence in Harbor Point and began attempting to call Clague out of the residence. A female, Vicki Fletcher, came out of the residence and advised deputies that Clague was in a travel trailer on the property. The Tactical Team attempted to negotiate with Clague who would not respond. While the Tactical Team attempted to see into the travel trailer, Clague ran out and attempted to flee on foot. Henderson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Kan was released and Clague was taken into custody. He was treated for injuries received during the apprehension and transported to the Henderson County Jail. Bail has been set at $2,000,000.
According to the press release, while deputies were speaking with Fletcher, they observed her walk around a patrol car and toss something in a ditch. Deputies checked the area where Fletcher tossed an item and located suspected methamphetamine. Fletcher was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Fletcher was transported to the Henderson County Jail where, as of press time is currently awaiting arraignment.
